Finding Information

NCSBN Learning Extension provides information about courses and other products and access to online courses. Course information is divided by audience:

  • Students: NCSBN Reviews for the NCLEX-PN® and NCLEX-RN® Examinations online courses
  • Faculty: Assessment Strategies for Nursing Educators online courses
  • Nurses: Continuing Education (CE) courses, including the Nurse Practice Act CE course offerings

Course Access

Courses are self-paced and begin as soon as you register online, which can be anytime, day or night. Simply follow the instructions below:

To register online, simply:

  • Click on the Enroll in a Course button to get to the course catalog.
  • Choose your course from the listing by checking the box next to your selection and clicking the “Add to Cart” button. (you may need to click the blue "search" button or simply scroll down the page to see the course list. If you do not see your course, you may need to go to page 2 of the course list)
  • Click the “Checkout” button
  • Next, you will be prompted to login.  If you don’t have a login ID, click the “Create” link in the New User area.
  • Complete the profile, and follow the instructions to register for each course. Your course access begins immediately after you register!

Please Note: Your course starts immediately after you register, so please register when you are ready to begin studying.

Returning users can simply login using the login form at the top of every page of www.learningext.com.

Payment Options and Registration Instructions

 
Registering with credit card (single user registrations)

Step 1 – Create User Profile and Log-in

Step 2 – Register and Pay for Course(s)

  • Click on Course Catalog button on the left
  • Select your course(s) by clicking the shopping cart icon
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the ‘Order’ button
  • A new window will pop-up that says ‘Shopping Cart (Step 1 of 4)'
    1. Shopping Cart: verify order and read and accept the terms of use
    2. Billing: enter payment information
    3. Confirm Order: confirm order details
    4. Process Order: view details of your completed purchase

Step 3 – Start Taking Course(s)

  • Click on the name of your course to begin studying

Registering with a course activation code

If your institution has purchased your course and provided you with an activation code, please follow the instructions below:

Follow these three simple steps to register for your course with your activation code:

Step 1 – Create a new NCSBN Learning Extension profile.

  • Go to: http://ncsbn.myncsbnlx.com
  • Click the “Create Your User Profile” link below the login box.
  • Follow the instructions on-screen to create your profile

Step 2 – Logon into the campus (http://ncsbn.myncsbnlx.com)

Step 3 – On the My Courses page paste or type in your activation code. The course will immediately appear on the My Courses page.

If you have trouble registering with your activation code, please contact your institution to confirm that the activation code distributed is correct.

Registering with check/money order (single user registrations)

If you are unable to pay with a credit card online, please follow the steps for the "Registering with credit card (single user registrations)" above, but select the 'cheque' payment type. When you complete the purchase process, print the invoice and send your check or money order, payable to the NCSBN, to:

Please include your full name, e-mail address, name of the course you want to be registered for, and your desired start date. Learners will not be allowed access to courses until checks/money orders have been received in our office. Confirmation of enrollment will be sent via e-mail.

Institutional/Group Purchases (purchases of multiple courses for other users)

New Convenient Online Purchasing Options

Institutions paying on behalf of learners may use our automated online process with a credit card. Simply go to http://ncsbn.myncsbnlx.com and then follow the steps below. Organizations wishing to purchase with checks or purchase orders must use an alternative submission process.

1. Create a new NCSBN Learning Extension profile.

  • Go to: http://ncsbn.myncsbnlx.com
  • Click the “Create Your User Profile” link below the login box.

  • Follow the instructions on-screen to create your profile

2. Login to http://ncsbn.myncsbnlx.com with your new login and password.

3. Select the course(s) you want on the Course Catalog page (a green box appears in the shopping cart when the course has been selected).

  • Click the “order” button (you may have to scroll down).
  • Follow the directions within the shopping cart to complete the transaction.

4. After your purchase, look for an e-mail with course activation codes for distribution to students. Included with this e-mail is information about course access that should be distributed to each student along with the activation code. If you are having trouble finding this email, please check your spam or junk mail boxes. Often times our emails get caught in spam blockers.

  • Activation codes expire if unused after six months. No refunds are provide for expired activation codes.
  • Students' time within courses starts at the moment they use the activation codes and students are given the full subscription period listed for each course.

Browser Support

Learning Extension courses are run on the Ole platform, which currently supports Internet Explorer, versions 5.5 and above. No other browsers, including all currently available browsers for the Apple and Macintosh platforms, are fully supported by Ole at this time. If you experience difficulties with Ole, please ensure you are running the most current available version of Microsoft Internet Explorer (available for download here http://www.microsoft.com/ie).

 

Anti-Virus Software Issue

Some anti-virus products are known to cause problems with the Ole software. If you are experiencing difficulties with registration and are running anti-virus software, we encourage you to temporarily disable your anti-virus software and try registering again. If this resolves your issue, contact technical support for assistance with reconfiguring your anti-virus software. Remember to re-enable your anti-virus software immediately after this to ensure you are protected from other Web sites!
