Privacy Policy


The National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. ("NCSBN") acknowledges how important it is to protect the privacy of the Users who visit NCSBN Learning Extension (hereinafter, this "Site"). Due to the nature of a subscription-based web site, personal information is collected. This information includes, but is not limited to, name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, credit card information, and usage data. NCSBN will not lease, rent, sell, or disclose any identifiable information about any User to a third-party without expressed permission from that User.

1. Collection:
NCSBN collects personal information through the course registration process via a third-party vendor, VTN Technologies. Usage information is also collected through monitoring regular use of the site. This information includes session length, page views, referring URLs, Internet browsers that are used, and computer operating systems being used. This usage data is used to assist NCSBN in understanding who uses the Site and what technology can be supported.

2. Multi-user registrations / School and Employer registrations:
When a User is registered via a multi-user subscription that has been purchased by an institution or employer, that employer or institution may request personal information regarding the User's progress and attendance in the course. The information provided includes, but is not limited to, course attendance, pre-test scores and post-test scores.

3. Cookies:
A cookie is a text file stored by your Web browser. The main purpose of a cookie is to collect information that will allow the browser to identify users and possibly customize the information displayed on their site.

NCSBN uses cookies to "remember" Users and their progress in their courses. The Site will not function properly if cookies are not enabled in your browser.

4. Discussion boards and conferences:
Conference areas and discussion boards are used prominently in the Site's courses. It is essential that the content that is posted in these areas reflect courtesy and respect to other who use the boards. Postings that contain questionable content that contain offensive language, objectionable content, or criticize or otherwise defame other users based on gender, religion, race or sexual orientation will not be tolerated. NCSBN reserves the right to remove any questionable or offensive content from conference areas and discussion boards. Repeat offenders, or those who have committed a serious offense through our Site will be subject to account termination without refund.

5. Security: No Liability
NCSBN has implemented various measures to protect against the misuse and alteration of any information under NCSBN's control. Information provided to NCSBN is encrypted to protect the integrity of the data as it travels the Internet, provided that your browser supports this. Such security is not impenetrable, and therefore NCSBN cannot prevent all loss, misuse, or alteration of information on the Site. NCSBN and its third-party licensor's are not responsible for any damage incurred by any such security failures. Furthermore, the Site contains links to outside sources and NCSBN cannot ensure, and is not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites.

6. Modification of Privacy Policy:
NCSBN reserves the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. NCSBN will notify users when a change has occurred to this policy by posting a notice in the "Announcements" area on www.learningext.com. Your continued use or viewing of this Site will signify your agreement with any modifications or changes implemented in the Privacy Policy.
